See the title? 1 Litre of Tears!




A very touching drama based on a true story. This drama is about a 15-year-old girl named Aya Ikeuchi. At that age, she suffered from an incurable disease, Spinocerebellar Atrophy. (Don't ask me, I never heard of it also.) From what it says in this drama, its a disease which slowly degenerate the brain which connects to the spinal cord. Therefore, slowly, the brain reaction to the muscle will be slower and it will keep degenerating till she has no control over her limbs. Its a cruel and brutal disease, which make the person suffer but is able to live.

You cannot tell the symptoms of this disease, it will be a sudden change. The person will slowly start to lose balance while walking, unable to move suddenly. As it progresses, the person will have difficulty walking, difficulty talking, starting to choke when eating and unable to write.

Aya Ikeuchi role is being played by the cute and gorgeous Erika Sawajiri. (Don't believe me? The picture above prove it all.) I must say, she is really a great actress. She was able to act from a normal teenage girl to a bed ridden person. That is relli hard!

How do they know how she felt when she had the disease? Its because she wrote a diary which was advised from her doctor, to see the changes she undergo before telling her that she had the disease. Even when she was told that she had the disease, she still wrote the diary until the age of 20 years old, where she was unable to write anymore. 5 years later, she passed away living behind her strong stuggle memories written in a diary. It was from there, the publication of her book "1 Litre Of Tears" came about. Not only did she was able to make people with the same disease feel valuable, but the whole of Japan the meaning of life.

It really made me cry from the 3rd episode onwards. And seriously, it is going to make u cry! SO please go get a tissue ready! and i don't mean a packet but a box! who knows u might cry from the first episode? I posted the links at the right side of the column. Watch it if u have the time, but please don't let ur parents watch u cry by yourself, invite them to cry with u!
